NMCP is permanently closing at the end of the 17/18 school year and we will not be hosting any summer camps in 2018. Please email email@example.com if you would like more information on schools we recommend or our closure.
2017 Camp Information : New Morning Community Preschool is offering FOUR summer camps for 2017. Summer camps will be held in four day sessions, Monday to Thursday 9am to 12:50 pm and are offered for children ages 3 (by September 1, 2017) to rising fourth graders. Children are divided by age into three separate classes. Camps are held at our year round location – 1223 Hardee Street NE.
Cost: Each session is $145 which includes four half days of camp. Each additional sibling is $125.
*If appropriate some camps may include walking field trips this year for the oldest two groups this year. If there is a small fee for the walking field trip that will be in addition to this cost.
To enroll in summer camp please fill out and submit our Summer Camp Application or contact us with questions. If you are applying for a currently enrolled student you simply need to notify us via email and make the camp payment in order to reserve your student’s spot. Camp payments are non-refundable, but are possibly transferable depending on space in other camps. There are two options for payment: Pay in full at the time of registration OR pay a deposit of half at the time of registration and half no later than two weeks before the start of camp.
Bring: Please send your child to camp each day with sunscreen on, in closed toed sporty shoes / sandals, with a change of warm weather clothes (camp is messy!), with a small healthy snack, a full water bottle and a healthy lunch. Please do not send desserts, regular potato chips etc. to camp. A big part of the NMCP philosophy includes eating healthy foods.
June 12-15: Science Camp – Campers will build, create and dive into the scientific process. NMCP Science Camp is all about hands-on experiences, learning from failures, and includes unstructured time to explore and invent with interesting materials. The oldest students will create a hypothesis and test it out while recording observations and making adaptations. Younger campers will get many chances to try out their own ideas while experiencing lots of sensory loaded fun. This annual camp is very popular and different each year with lots of new themes and guest scientists. We will announce guest names as they become available.
June 19-22: Music & Drum Camp – Dance around, play loud and love music! We will have a professional drum teacher leading students on the NMCP djembes! Campers will also experiment with other fun instruments and enjoy a variety of dance classes. The oldest students learn to actually play a song on the djembe by the end of camp! We will add updates on more instrument experiences / classes and musical guests as they become available.
July 10-13 : Community Service and Action Camp – Campers will learn about the amazing people in our community who keep us safe such as police officers, firefighters and paramedics. Each day students will explore tools, vehicles (fire truck, ambulance, police car) uniforms and jobs of different community helpers and have an opportunity to meet them as we complete a special ‘thank you’ service project. Older classes will explore and problem solve (age appropriate) social issues in our community.
July 17-20: Wilderness Camp – Join us for a week of nature school! The NMCP outdoor environment is an integral part of our year round program but it gets a special focus during this camp. Campers will study local wildlife, experiment with fort building, build fires and cook outside. This annual camp is different each year with lots of new nature skills taught and new guests!
