We currently host a two day per week program for older ones who are walking and ready to miss their morning nap. NMCP one year olds explore art materials, work in the garden, enjoy music classes and develop many simple but important skills such as how to gently play along side others. Our one year olds thrive in the intimate environment we offer and love developing their independence! For the 16/17 school year one year olds must be 20 months old by August 1st to apply.
Two Year Old Classes
Our two year old program is designed to be a gentle transition to a group learning environment. Two-year olds are busy! They are happily engaged in sensory activities, gross and fine motor games, art projects, music, stories, play of all kinds and just being silly! In Service-Learning we teach our two year olds how to share, to be kind to one another, to verbalize their own feelings and be observant of their friends feelings. Our two year olds participate in yoga, music class, gardening and all of the other special subjects offered to the older classes.
Our three year old class builds on the foundation set during the 2 year old year. They participate fully in all service learning projects and further develop communication skills that allow them to express themselves and resolve conflict. Letter identification and basic math skills are introduced in a playful, interactive way that often involves sensory elements and art projects. Over the course of the year our 3 year olds begin to use journals and are given time to express themselves through writing, acting and dramatic play.
All students spend one-half of each day OUTSIDE!
